Local Supermarkets:  There is a huge hypermarket (8 miles) near the airport in Bergerac, click on this link for the address:

For day to day top up food there is a co-op type shop and a boulangerie in Bouniagues which is just 3 miles away. The co-op (called Horaires is open Mon to Sat 07:30 to 19:30 and Sunday 08:30 to 12:30)  The boulangerie is similar but closes for lunch.

The cheapest way is probably Easyjet from Gatwick to Bordeaux, we've seen flights as low as £17.18p each way, and that was decent middle of the day flight times in September.

Flybe serve Bergerac (just 8 miles away) from various airports around the UK, including Southampton, Manchester, Exeter and Belfast.  The Saturday morning flight from Southampton arrives about 2pm on Saturday in Bergerac. 

Ryanair serve Bergerac from Stansted.

BA fly from Gatwick and London City to Bergerac, Bordeaux and Toulouse. 

Jet2 fly to Bergerac from Manchester and Leeds. 


There are several car hire companies at Bergerac airport, one of the most popular is or for about 20 Euros you could take a taxi from the airport. 



The drive can be done in a day from Calais, Boulogne or the other ports.  It normally takes about 8 hours from Calais which includes regular stops.  

When using the channel tunnel or ferry we aim to arrive in Calais for about 10am local time which normally gets us to the property about 6pm, in time for dinner and sunset by the pool with a glass of wine.   

The Portsmouth to Caen ferry is becoming a popular option now it is all motorway from Caen to Bergerac (about 7hrs drive)
